Our client, a Premier Packaging Design Agency with offices in New York, NY, is seeking to hire an experienced HR Consultant (Contract). In this role, we need an HR expert to help establish and improve our clients’ HR processes and policies as we continue to grow. This is a contract position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and optimize existing HR policies, procedures, and vendor contracts (e.g., ADP)
  • Develop an employee handbook and onboarding process
  • Advise on best practices for benefits administration, PTO tracking, and other core HR functions
  • Provide HR guidance and support on an as-needed basis
  • Build a solid HR foundation to support our client’s continued growth

FIRST 30–60 DAYS EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assess current HR practices (onboarding, offboarding, recordkeeping, etc.)
  • Set up a folder structure for key HR categories (e.g., Employee Files, Hiring Docs, Templates, Policies)
  • Identify gaps or compliance risks
  • Create or refine offer letter templates, onboarding checklists, contractor agreements, and confidentiality agreements
  • Review and refine employee handbook basics
  • Review and refine job roles and draft an org chart
  • Establish standard processes for hiring, performance reviews, time-off tracking, and benefits questions
  • Propose systems or improvements to support business growth
  • Identify any additional considerations for a strong HR foundation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of HR generalist experience, ideally supporting small to midsize or founder-led businesses
  • Proven experience building HR systems or infrastructure from scratch, especially in companies with under 50 employees
  • Expertise in HR compliance, policies, and process improvement
  • Strong communication and consultative skills
  • Hands-on, organized, and able to create easy-to-use systems (please provide examples of systems you’ve set up or improved)
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and HR technology
  • Ability to offer tools and templates previously created to accelerate setup
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely, with occasional on-site meetings
